Concordia University Irvine to Air Christmas Concerts 2020 on Public Television

ALL IS BRIGHT, A CONCORDIA CHRISTMAS to air on PBS SoCal & KCET during Christmas week

IRVINE, CA (November 19, 2020)—For the first time, Concordia University Irvine will be airing its annual Christmas concerts as a made-for-TV special. The hour-long broadcast ALL IS BRIGHT, A CONCORDIA CHRISTMAS will premiere on Tuesday, December 22 at 8 p.m. with encores Thursday, December 24 at 10 p.m. and Friday, December 25 at 8 p.m. on PBS SoCal, and airing Friday, December 25 at 11 a.m. on KCET.

The new made-for-TV Christmas concerts will feature music produced in the recording studios of Concordia University Irvine’s newest building, the Borland-Manske Center, as well as footage from a 2018 Concordia concert at Segerstrom Hall. The narrated special includes arrangements of favorite Christmas carols by students, soloists, as well as Americana, jazz and commercial ensembles. Concordia’s choirs, orchestras, and handbells will also perform. Filmed on the campus of Concordia Irvine and throughout Orange County, the special will include a Christmas message, as well as a tribute to essential workers.

“All is Bright,” a Concordia Christmas is presented by Foundational sponsors Charlie and Ling Zhang and Golden State Foods. A tradition for families and music patrons for years on its Irvine campus, Concordia University Irvine plans to return its annual Christmas concerts to its campus next year. Concordia Irvine replaced its Christmas concerts with a made-for-TV special this year in order to accommodate local COVID-19 ordinances.
